1. Why is my water bill so high even if I don’t use much water?

Check your “Sanitary Charges” and “Minimum Monthly Charge.” BWSSB has a minimum bill amount even if your consumption is zero. Also, if you live in a multi-story apartment, the total bill for the building is divided among residents, and sometimes leakage in the main tank can inflate everyone’s individual cost.

2. How can I pay my BWSSB bill online in Bangalore?

You can pay via the official “BWSSB Web Portal” or the “BangaloreOne” website. Popular UPI apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay also support BWSSB bill payments using your 10-digit “RR Number” (printed on your bill).

3. What is the “RR Number” and where can I find it?

The RR Number is your unique consumer ID. It is usually printed at the top-right or top-left of your physical water bill. You need this number for all payments, lodging complaints about water leakage, or applying for a new connection. It’s a good idea to save it on your phone.

4. Does BWSSB charge for borewell water?

Yes. If you have a borewell connection in your house, you are legally required to register it with BWSSB. They charge a nominal monthly fee (around ₹50 for residential) for the maintenance of the city’s groundwater table and the sewage load generated from that borewell water.

5. What should I do if my water meter is faulty?

If you notice the meter digits are moving even when all taps are closed, you likely have a hidden pipe leak. If the meter is stuck and not moving at all, you must report it to the nearest BWSSB subdivision office. They will replace the meter. If you don’t report it, they might charge you a high “Average Bill” based on previous months.
